Walk in the park – Peter

At the ESOMAR Congress the first keynote speaker was Richard Wiseman, an experimental psycologist.  He showed us this following great video (it’s only about 20 seconds long):

I think this video demonstrates what happens when people see the unexpected. Normally the defeding players would rely on their system 1 to tell them what to do – now I don’t know much about American Soccer (or whatever it’s called) but I’m guessing they would normally charge forwards.  But as this event was so surprising and unique their system 1 didn’t have an inbuilt response, and the system 2 was rather confused and, as we know, slow to react, until he started to run of course…
